Stretch marks mostly occur in the first half of one’s life and commonly in pregnancy but can occur in certain medical connotes due to hormonal changes (replacement and disorders) and rapid weight gain and loss.
It happens when there is rapid expansion of the dermal connective tissue and thickening of the overlying skin. The result leaves streaky lines.
The initial colour change is from reddish to purplish and then eventually leaves a slivery or white hue streak.
We treat striae with our Cynosure fractional non ablative 1540 XD laser to help address the underlying dermal connective tissue damage and stimulate tissue growth to improve the appearance of these marks.
Acne
Affects everyone and all ages!
Acne is caused by a wide range of factors, from hormonal changes, diet, lifestyle, skin care, and medication use.
Acne is caused by the blockage of oil glands that results in comedones; black head, with some heads
that can be cystic and scarring, and can be on most parts of the body like the face, back, and neck.
Have an early consultation with us to identify the best approach to relieve the acute phase of acne, and then to help with prevention with daily skin care routine which could include prescription medication and/or physician grade skin care like Alumier MD.
Our treatments with laser therapy can help those with residual scaring and hyperpigementation from healing one lesion.
Unwanted Hair
Hormones, called androgens, are the main reason why body hair develops.
There is normal hair growth and excess and unwanted hair growth. The latter is caused by a range of medical disorders that should be diagnosed by your medical doctor. We are able to assist with the removal of excessive and unwanted hair.
We look at hair and describe them according to the pattern and density of the hair growth. We offer laser as a treatment for hair removal.
The laser emits a beam of light, which the pigment (color) in your hair absorbs. Over time, this can destroy the hair follicle, so the hair cannot grow back. While it takes about 6 treatments to destroy a follicle, the hair will grow back thinner and finer after each treatment. The number of treatments also vary from person to person, we are able to give a free consultation to advise you on this.
Key Points:
It can take up to 6 treatments, targeting specific growth phases to ensure hair removal is successful.
People of all skin colors can safely have laser hair removal, but the person performing the procedure on people who have skin of color should have experience performing laser hair removal on darker skin tones.
There’s no downtime.
Men who have constant razor burn or ingrown hairs due to shaving can permanently eliminate their beard with laser hair removal. Once you’re no longer shaving, you won’t be bothered by razor burn or ingrown hairs.
Laser hair removal won’t work on blonde, white, gray, or red hair because lasers cannot effectively target light-colored hair.
You’ll need to keep the treated area covered and out of the sun until the skin heals.
We are able to successfully treat face, unwanted underarm hair, leg, arm, and bikini areas. Other areas include the back, shoulders, buttocks, chest, and feet.
Photo Sun Damage
Sun damage is the accumulation of skin stress due to radiation exposure from the sun and in direct sun exposure and even on cloudier days (which is worse). It is mostly worsened from the lack of or inadequate sunscreen type or frequency used outside. Symptoms of sun damage are instantly recognizable, and include: hyper pigmentation, wrinkles or fine lines, and uneven skin texture.
Sun damage accelerates aging of skin, meaning essential skin care is vital, such as for appropriate sun protection. We carry effective broad spectrum spf for all skin types from Alumier MD.
If you have some changes to the skin from damage already we have several treatment options that can help minimize sun damage symptoms, all while encouraging a youthful, rejuvenated glow.
These therapies include:
Laser treatments with IPL, non ablative Fractional Laser treatments.
Medical Grade Skin care from Alumier MD.
Xeomin Botulism toxin and dermal fillers with the use of Belotero.
Melasma
Melasma is a condition in which areas of the skin become darker than the surrounding skin. It typically occurs on the face, particularly the forehead, cheeks and above the upper lip. The dark patches often appear on both sides of the face in a nearly identical pattern. The darker-colored patches of skin can be any shade, from tan to deep brown. Rarely, these dark patches may appear on other sun-exposed areas of the body.
Darker patches of skin appear on the forehead, temples, cheeks or above the upper lip. The symptoms are strictly cosmetic and non-painful.
Melasma during pregnancy is relatively common. Sometimes it is called the “mask of pregnancy” or “chloasma.”
Sun light exposure is the biggest factor to consider when trying to reduce or prevent Melasma. Using medications that make you sensitive to the sun (photosensitizing) can increase your risk of developing melasma. These can include some cosmetics and medicines. Protection from the sun is a necessary part of treatment of Melasma.
A few treatment options we provide that may help fade or treat these dark patches:
Physician grade home care skin care, such as our range from Alumier MD, can help prevent and treat Melasma.
Hydroquinone is a cream that takes pigment out of the skin. It blocks the natural chemical process that leads to the creation of melanin.
Intense Pulsed Light therapy utilizes certain wave lengths of light to target and remove pigmented areas of skin.
Tretinoin is a type of vitamin A that helps to increase the rate at which dead skin cells fall off and new ones appear. This makes the melasma patch fade more quickly as the pigmented cells are shed.
The best way to prevent Melasma is to limit skin exposure to the sun. If you go out in the sun, take these preventive measures:
Wear a hat with a brim to shade and protect your face.
Apply sun block , such as the selection from Alumier MD that protects you against both ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B radiation. The sunscreen should have a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30.
